Galesburg Police investigating more burglaries to motor vehicles

Galesburg Police responded to the 600 block of North Academy Street on Thursday, October 27th, in reference to a motor vehicle burglary. A 2003 Dodge Neon had its passenger-side window shattered. A male victim told police it is his son's car, and a GHS-issued Dell Chromebook was stolen. Sunday, October 30th, police responded to the 500 block of Scotch Elm for a burglary to a motor vehicle. The male victim told police his 2006 Dodge Truck was left unlocked and someone took a Taurus .380 handgun and an American Arms .22 magnum handgun. The theft possibly occurred the night before. Shortly after 2:00 am on Monday, October 31st, Galesburg Police responded to the 100 block of North Seminary Street for an overnight vehicle burglary. Residents there said they noticed personal items outside their 2018 Honda SUV and then realized it had been broken into. Various items were missing including a jacket, a headset, glasses, and a pair of flower pots. The Honda was left unlocked overnight. ....

Galesburg Police respond to three more burglaries from motor vehicles on Sunday

Late Sunday morning, Galesburg Police responded to the 700 block of North Academy Street in reference to a burglary. A 53-year-old female told police someone broke out the passenger-side window of her sedan and stole her purse. Inside the purse was various credit and bank cards as well as a checkbook. Then early Sunday afternoon, GPD responded to the 800 block of East Brooks Street for a report of a vehicle being burglarized. A 48-year-old female and a 22-year-old male told police both of their vehicles were burglarized overnight while sitting in the driveway. The male reported his wallet, along with his ID, bank cards, and about $600 in cash was taken, while the female reported only loose change missing from her vehicle. Also on Sunday, Galesburg Police responded to the 1100 block of East Brooks after a checkbook was recovered from a separate burglary investigation in the 800 block of East Brooks. A disturbing trend of motor vehicle burglaries continue

Galesburg Police on Sunday morning, October 16th, responded to the 400 block of Clark Street for a reported burglary to a motor vehicle. The 33-year-old owner of a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche said his SUV was burglarized with only $20 in small bills taken - the entire truck had been rummaged through. Police later Sunday morning responded to the 600 block of North Academy Street where a resident had video footage of two vehicles being burglarized across the street. The 23-year-old female victim told police her purse was taken from the Ford sedan. The purse was then located in the 400 block of North Academy Street but inside it was the Driver's License, ID cards, and bank cards belonging to another person whose car was broken into that night. The male victim did not know how his personal items got mixed into a purse that was stolen.
