Voters to decide both issues at ballot box
Sherry Stilley, a lake resident, argued the existing trees on some of the lots absorb nutrients and runoff in the soil, which she fears would end up in Lake Mitchell if torn down for future homes.
Mayor Bob Everson said revenue made from the sale of the lots, if voters approve the ballot measure in June, would be used to fund future Lake Mitchell clean up efforts.
“If we don’t fix the old infrastructure we have now, it will cost way more down the road and lead to more problems in the meantime. We have miles of pipes that are 100 years old,” said City Council President Kevin McCardle on investing in infrastructure projects.
