Some Burke County Students To Return To Part-Time In-Person Instruction Some Burke County Students To Return To Part-Time In-Person Instruction January 26, 2021 The Burke County Board of Education voted Monday night (January 25) that Burke County Public Schools PreK-5th grade students and North Liberty School students will return to school on Monday, February 1, 2021, under Plan B hybrid learning (the same A-day/B-day schedule as the system was on in the fall). The item was passed by a 5-2 vote. The entire system has been under Plan C, remote learning, since returning to school following Christmas break. The board voted to put the entire system in plan C just before the holiday due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the county. As a result of Monday’s action, Middle and High School students in grades six through twelve will remain under Plan C remote learning. Wednesday remains a professional development day for staff and a remote learning day for all students.

The remote learning will last through Jan. 25. The decision, which was made at the board of education meeting Monday, comes just hours after district officials announced a Morganton school would move to remote learning.
