Some Mdantsane residents have to wait another week for water to be restored

After voicing concerns about the quality of Buffalo City Metro’s tap water over the Easter weekend, ratepayers in parts of Mdantsane will have to wait another week to receive clean water.

Bloody Easter weekend on Eastern Cape roads as 25 confirmed dead

Twenty-five people were killed and many others injured inroad accidents in the EasternCape over the Easter weekend. Dozens of people were arrested in Buffalo City Metro and King Sabata Dalindyebo local municipality for offences ranging from drunk driving and obstruction, to driving an unlicensed motor vehicle, jumping a red traffic light, overloading and driving without a valid driver’s licence.

Men jailed for shooting that left K9 cop disabled

The two men involved in the attempted murder of East London K9 Warrant Officer Pieter “Swanie” Swanepoel and security specialist Darren Saayman have been sentenced to an effective 25 and 22 years’ imprisonment respectively.

Flawed beachfront information boards still not corrected

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Development Agency’s factually incorrect sign boards along the beachfront in Quigney, East London, have not been removed or corrected despite an undertaking by the agency to do so two weeks ago. The Dispatch reported on February 5 that one of the nine boards contained incorrect information relating to the isiXhosa history while another had the wrong picture of the Beach Hotel.

Men found guilty of shooting K9 policeman

Two men involved in a shooting that left East London K9 Warrant Officer Pieter “Swanie” Swanepoel permanently disabled have been found guilty. Mthatha resident Sanele Mankayi, 33, and Ntabozuko resident Bongani Silo, 40, were found guilty on Friday of the attempted murder of Swanepoel and security guard Darren Saayman.

Health train no-show dismays residents
