The first event there since 2019: the venerable Jesse Owens Track Classic, which continues Saturday with a full slate of 33 events beginning at 10:45 with the women’s 1,500 and with field events beginning at 11 a.m. The meet Friday didn’t start exactly on time, with a brief downpour and some lightning strikes delaying the start for 45 minutes. But when it finally did begin … KABOOM! That was the sentiment of joy emanating from the throws area across Fred Taylor Drive as the great Sade Olatoye set new Jesse Owens Stadium, Jesse Owens Track Classic and Ohio State school records in the hammer throw with a winning toss of 69.89m / 229-3. Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sprinters were dominant at the Husker B1G Invite, contested at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas, securing eight podium finishes and six wins in a meet featuring 12 Big Ten Conference teams and 100s of student-athletes competing. Anavia Battle was the big winner not just for the Buckeyes, but for the meet. The senior was a three-time winner, adding 100- and 200-meter dash victories today to a 4×100-meter relay victory. The 200 was her first of the season and she won it in 23.19, not long after she won the 100 in 11.24. She out-raced 45 other runners to win the 200 and 33 other competitors to win the 100. ....

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State track and field senior standouts Eric Harrison and Anavia Battle have been named Big Ten track athletes of the week for their multiple-win performances last weekend in Jacksonville, Fla., at the Big Ten North Florida Invitational. The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly award winners today. Harrison, from Washington, D.C., and St. John’s High School, had an absolutely terrific two-days in Florida, going unbeaten in four races. He qualified first in the 100-meter preliminaries on Friday. And then on Saturday, he won the 100 in a personal best time of 10.17, he won the 200 in a near-personal best time of 20.52 and he was on the victorious 4×100-meter relay team that won in 39.72 and included Kainnan Ramsey, Adrian Curry and Donnie James. ....
