Men's Sprints Dominated on Day Three of NCAA East Regional

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State men’s track and field dominated on day three of the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds at The University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium. The Seminoles punched in 10 additional tickets to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.

“Our men had one of our best Region meets ever,” said head coach Bob Braman. “We competed beyond our expectations. The men hit on 10 of 12 National qualifying opportunities today, that’s unheard of! We’re in a really good spot for a trophy finish (Top 4) at Nationals. And you never know when things break your way and something amazing happens. Proud of all of them!”

The sprint’s squad put on a show, punching 7 of the 10 tickets on Friday. The 4x100m relay squad of Taylor Banks, Kasaun James, Don’drea Swint, and Jo’Vaughn Martin was the first ticket punched on the track. Their time of 38.67 is the No. 4 time in FSU history and No. 4 in the nation.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Dartmouth College senior Tim Zepf has one more race to run . and maybe more after that.
The senior from Londonderry, N.H, and Trinity High School recorded a personal-best time on Wednesday to advance to the 800-meter run finals at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regional meet at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium. Zepf won his first-round heat in 1 minute, 48.39 seconds, which is also the second-fastest time in school history for the distance.
Overall, Zepf was third in a field of 48 competitors across six sections in the Florida heat. Winning his race guaranteed Zepf an automatic clot in Friday’s quarterfinals, set for a 7:35 p.m. start. ....

Nwanaga and Zabarino Punch Their Tickets to The NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kelechi Nwanaga and Sara Zabarino earned spots at the 2021 NCAA Track and Field Championships and six other Noles advanced to the next round to highlight day two at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds at The University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium.

“Really great day for the Ladies!” said head coach Bob Braman. “Well positioned to put a bunch of Nationals scorers on the plane. Fantastic Job by the lady speedsters in the 100-meter and 200-meter. Easy qualifier for Maudie, smooth and in control. The Javelin ladies were clutch again, looking for some fireworks in Eugene for these two.”

On their first javelin throw of the day, Nwanaga and Zabarino punched their tickets to the National meet. Nwanaga qualified with the mark of 53.33m and Zabarino with 52.35m.

On the track, Maudie Skyring was the first Seminole of the day to advance to the next round. As an automatic qualifier in the 1,500 meters out of heat four, she clocked in a ....

Eric Harrison Named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State track and field senior standouts Eric Harrison and Anavia Battle have been named Big Ten track athletes of the week for their multiple-win performances last weekend in Jacksonville, Fla., at the Big Ten North Florida Invitational. The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly award winners today.
Harrison, from Washington, D.C., and St. John’s High School, had an absolutely terrific two-days in Florida, going unbeaten in four races. He qualified first in the 100-meter preliminaries on Friday. And then on Saturday, he won the 100 in a personal best time of 10.17, he won the 200 in a near-personal best time of 20.52 and he was on the victorious 4×100-meter relay team that won in 39.72 and included Kainnan Ramsey, Adrian Curry and Donnie James. ....
