Megan Connolly And Heather Payne Named to Ireland World Cup Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior Heather Payne and Former Florida State soccer player Megan Connolly will head to Australia/New Zealand to represent the Republic of Ireland at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The 23-woman roster was announced on June 28.  The Republic of Ireland qualified for their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup along with their first-ever appearance in a global or European women’s competition. Connolly has amassed 39 appearances and four goals as a midfielder for her nation while Payne has 34 appearances and kept four clean sheets as one the premier defenders in the qualification stages. Ireland will face Australia, Canada, and Nigeria in Group B. The Girls in Green will start their campaign on Thursday, July 20 at 6 a.m., against the co-hosts in Sydney, Australia. Women's Hoops Hosts Arkansas in First ACC/SEC Challenge

TALLAHASSEE, Florida – The inaugural ACC/SEC Women’s Basketball Challenge comes to Tallahassee in the 2023-24 season, as Florida State plays host to Arkansas on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Network designations will be released at a later date. The matchup vs. the Razorbacks is the second confirmed game of the 2023-24 campaign for Florida State Women’s Basketball, with the other being a neutral-site game vs. UCLA at the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase on Sunday, Dec. 10, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

The Seminoles and Razorbacks meet for just the second time ever and the first since 2011. Arkansas reached the WNIT Great Eight last season and finished 24-13 overall and 7-9 in the SEC.

Florida State Boasts Program-Record 12 On All-ACC Academic Team

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State softball had a program-record 12 student-athletes earn recognition on the All-ACC Academic Team released Tuesday. Infielder Devyn Flaherty and ACC Pitcher of the Year Kathryn Sandercock each made their third appearance on the All-ACC Academic Team, while pitcher/infielder Mack Leonard and outfielder Kaley Mudge earned their second academic all-conference recognition. Along with Sandercock and Leonard, senior Ali DuBois, junior Allison Royalty and freshman Makenna Reid gave FSU five pitchers on the all-academic team. Infielders Bethaney Keen and Amaya Ross earned a spot on the team for the first time, as did outfielders Autumn Belviy, Jahni Kerr and Hallie Wacaser. In order to be eligible for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and a 3.0 GPA in the previous semester. Brown, Matthews Headed to 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup for Jamaica

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Rising senior Jody Brown and Former Florida State soccer player Cheyna Matthews (Williams) will head to Australia/New Zealand to represent Jamaica at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The 23-woman roster was announced on June 23. Matthews and Brown will be making their second World Cup appearance after playing in 2019 in France, where Jamaica faced Brazil, Italy, and Australia in the group stage.  Matthews made two starts, while Brown made her debut against Brazil. Jamaica will face France, Brazil, and Panama in the group stage. The Reggae Girlz start their campaign on Sunday, July 23 at 6 a.m., against Le Blue in Sydney, Australia. John Pak Wins Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open on PGA TOUR Canada

WASKESIU LAKE, SK– Heralded Florida State Men’s Golf Alum John Pak secured his first professional victory on Sunday afternoon, winning the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open at Elk Ridge Resort after shooting 21-under (66-64-66-63). It was Pak’s second event played on PGA TOUR Canada, as he impressively closed out the tournament with his best round at 63. The Scotch Plains, N.J., native delivered eight birdies on Sunday, including a crucial one on the 17th hole when he drilled a manageable putt to increase his lead to four strokes.
