Four Noles to Represent the USA at World Championships

Eugene, Ore. – Four athletes with ties to the Florida State track and field program will be representing the United States at the 2022 World Athletics Championships after qualifying at the USA Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field this past weekend. Trey Cunningham, Rachel Dincoff, and Marvin Bracy will don the Red, White, and Blue back at Hayward Field July 15-24, while Curtis Williams will head to the World Junior Championships from Aug. 1-6 in Cali, Colombia. Fresh off his NCAA title, Cunningham cruised through qualifying of the Men’s 110m Hurdles, winning heat two at 13.13. He faster in the semifinals, securing the second seed for the final at 13.09.  Cunningham ran a 13.08 in the final, winning silver by one one-hundredth of a second.   Dincoff won the bronze medal in Discus, punching her ticket to the World Championships after throwing 62.14 on her third attempt. Bracy ran a personal best of 9.85 for silver after placing third in semis at 9.86. A 2016 Olympian for the United States, Bracy will be competing in his first Outdoor World Championships after winning silver in the 60m Dash at the World Indoor Championships in March of this year. Williams took silver at the USATF U20 Track and Field Championships in the Long Jump at 7.73 on his first attempt. Jeremiah Davis also landed on the podium, winning bronze behind a mark of 8.11 in the Long Jump.  Isaac Grimes (2020-22) followed in sixth place at 8.00 on his fifth attempt and Jacore Irving (2018-22) was 18th at 7.33. In the Women’s Triple Jump final, Imani Oliver, who is a volunteer coach, jumped 13.45 on her fifth attempt for fifth place. Don’dre Swint advanced to the semifinals of the Men’s 100m Dash after clocking a 10.32 in the heats. Swint finished 15th at 10.17. Jo’Vaughn Martin clocked 10.36 for 21st. DaeQwan Butler placed 26th in the Men’s 400m Dash at 47.03 and Kasey Knevelbaard (2019-21) was 30th in the Men’s 1,500m Run at 3:43.88.

Several Noles to Compete at USATF Championships in Eugene

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Several current and former Florida State track and field athletes will be competing at the USA Track and Field Championships and the USA Track and Field U20 Championships in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field this upcoming Thursday through Sunday. Zabarino Earns First-Team All-America Honors in the Javelin

EUGENE, Ore. -    The 4x100m relay began the night off with a bang with a record-breaking performance. Edidiong Odiong, Savy'on Toombs, Ka'Tia Seymour and Ashley Seymour combined to break the ACC record and the 29-year-old school record with a time of 42.78. The Noles had the fifth-fastest time of the three heats and finished second in their heat to automatically qualify for the finals. The finals will take place on Saturday at 5:32 p.m. on ESPN.

Eight Noles and Two Relay Teams Advance to NCAA Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Florida State men's track and field team put together some phenomenal performances on their final day of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind. A total of eight Noles and two relay teams will be headed to Eugene, Ore. for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. I was really pleased with our performances today, said Head Coach Bob Braman. The 4x100m relay got us off to a great start with a really good time on a wet track on a cold night, and we had some guys gut it out to punch their ticket to nationals.. We have set ourselves up really well to compete for a title in Eugene. The 4x100m relay started the night off with a bang as Taylor Banks, Amir Willis, Don'dre Swint and Jo'Vaughn Martin combined to run 38.51 on a cold and wet night. That time is No. 2 in the NCAA this season, was a meet record and also put the group No. 2 of FSU's all-time list. Trey Cunningham put together one of the most special performances in 110m hurdle history. Cunningham reclaimed the fastest time in the world with a new personal best 13.07 into 1.5m/s headwind. According to the USTFCCCA, only five athletes in world history have run the 110m hurdles faster into a headwind, and Cunningham's time was the third-fastest in world history into a headwind of 1.5m/s or stronger. Cunningham now has the fifth-fastest time in NCAA history. In the triple jump, Jeremiah Davis and Jacore Irving solidified their spots at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Davis jumped 15.99m while Irving posted a season-best mark of 15.84m. In the 100m dash, Banks and Martin ran 10.17 and 10.18, respectively to move on to the semifinals in Eugene in the event. The Noles ended the night with the 5000m run and the 4x400m relay and will have representatives at Hayward Field in both events. Adriaan Wildschutt (13:39.33) finished fifth overall, and Ahmed Muhumed (13:44.42) finished 12th to become the first pair in school history to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 5000m run. In the 4x400m relay, Sean Watkins Jr., Willis, James Rivera and DaeQwan Butler combined to run 3:05.33 to finish third in their heat and secure and automatic spot into the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The women will hope to continue the momentum tomorrow as they will get under way at 1 p.m. with the discus and at 5 p.m. with the 4x100m relay. Noles Men on Top Going into Championship Saturday

DURHAM, N.C - The Florida State track and field team put together great performances on both the track and the field on day two of the ACC Outdoor Championships in Durham, N.C. The men are on top of the team standings with 50 points while the women are in eighth with 24 points. I'm really pleased with how we are performing so far. We are just feeding off each other in each event, Head Coach Bob Braman said. We had a great day of qualifying. We've put ourselves in really good position for tomorrow, and I couldn't be more pleased. Riley Ott kicked things off on Friday with a gutsy performance in the decathlon. Ott posted personal bests in the 110m hurdles (15.44), the discus throw (32.14m), the javelin throw (51.05m) and the 1500m run (4:40.21) in route to a personal best score of 7105 points to earn him third. His score puts him No. 6 on the FSU all-time list. After finishing second in the long jump yesterday, Jeremiah Davis continued his success in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 16.16m to take third. Jacore Irving finished sixth in the event with a mark of 15.38m. Amani Heaven had a great day in the shot put tossing a personal best 16.35m to take fifth in the event. It was the highest placing of her career, and it moved her to fourth all-time in FSU history. Milton Ingraham also had a good day in the shot put with a season-best mark of 17.80m to finish seventh in the shot put. Trey Cunningham shined again in the 110m hurdle preliminary race with a time of 13.13, the 10th-fastest time in NCAA history to secure the top qualifying spot in the event. The Noles had a great day in the short sprints putting seven athletes in the 100m finals on the men's and women's side. Jo'Vaughn Martin (10.19), Amir Willis (10.36) and Taylor Banks (10.41) all qualified on the men's side, while Edidiong Odiong (11.20), Ka'Tia Seymour (11.31) and Ashley Seymour (11.46) each advanced to the 100m finals. Martin and Odiong each clocked the top qualifying times. Sean Watkins Jr. (45.95), Alex Collier (46.03) and DaeQwan Butler (46.13) each had great races in the 400m dash to take the first, second and fourth qualifying spots in the event. Ruby Stauber clocked the top qualifying time in the 800m run with a time of 2:05.28. Action will begin at 11 a.m. with the men's discus with running events beginning at 5 p.m. with the 4x100m relay. Three Noles Crowned ACC Champions on Day One of ACC Championships

DURHAM, N.C. - The Florida State track and field team got off to a terrific start Thursday at the ACC Outdoor Championships. Isaac Grimes (long jump), Lauren Ryan (10,000m run) and Ahmed Muhumed (10,000m run) each took home ACC titles on the first day of competition. The men currently lead the team standings with 33 points while the women are fourth with 24 points. Grimes led a trio of FSU jumpers in the long jump competition. The Noles went first, second and fourth in the event to score 23 points in a single event. Grimes won the event with a season-best and facility record mark of 8.05m. Jeremiah Davis finished second with a mark of 7.96m and Jacore Irving finished fourth with a personal best mark of 7.83m. The distance group shined late into the night, as Lauren Ryan ran away with the 10,000m run title by nearly 26 seconds. This was the first time Ryan has ran the 10,000m run in competition and moved to No. 3 on FSU's all-time list with a time of 32:56.53. Ahmed Muhumed used a 56 second final 400 meters in the 10,000m run to take the title in a downpour. Muhumed broke the meet record with a time of 28:48.69 to move to No. 6 all-time in FSU history. This was Muhumed's first ACC title, and he is the first Nole to win an ACC title in the 10,000m run since Breandan O'Reilly in 2013. Sara Zabarino broke the school record in the javelin with a mark of 55.66m to finish second in the event. Kelechi Nwanaga finished third with a mark of 52.10m In preliminary action, Edidiong Odiong ran a phenomenal 200m dash, clocking a personal best 22.83 to move to No. 8 on FSU's all-time list and take the top qualifying time into Saturday's final race. In the 400m hurdles, Ava Klein (1:00.87) advanced to the finals on the women's side while James Rivera (52.02) also advanced to Saturday's final. In the men's 200m dash, Amir Willis qualified with a time of 20.76. Maudie Skyring (4:22.66) and Jen Lima (4:23.16) each advanced to the final in the women's 1500m run. Sam Field (3:49.69) advanced to the final as well. Riley Ott competed in the first five events of the decathlon and posted personal bests in three of those events. He currently sits in third with a score of 3865. Action will continue tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the decathlon. ACC Network Extra will once again have coverage. Three Noles Snag Individual Titles at UNF on Day One

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida State track and field team picked up two victories on a windy day at Hodges Stadium on the campus of North Florida. Jeremiah Davis was the highlight for the Noles. Davis won the long jump with a mark of 7.98m, just 0.01m off his personal best which he set indoors in the 2021 season. Davis bettered his outdoor personal best after going 7.92m at the Tom Jones Memorial two weeks ago. The Noles dominated the long jump event taking three out of the four spots. Jacore Irving finished third with a mark of 7.73m while Isaac Grimes finished right behind him in fourth with a mark of 7.74m. Sam Field picked up his second victory of the season in the 1500m run. Field took the lead in the last 100 meters and clocked in at 3:46.47 for the win. Humberto Freire (3:48.69) finished fourth while Jacob Holmes finished (3:50.41). Alyson Churchill had a great race in the women's 5000m run in her first race of the outdoor season. Churchill pulled away from the pack in the final two laps to win the event with a time of 16:16.60. Edidiong Odiong continued her terrific season for the Noles, as she clocked a personal best 23.03 in the 200m dash into a 1.2 meters per second headwind. Odiong finished as the top collegian and third overall in the event. James Rivera had a strong showing in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 51.38 to finish second. Milton Ingraham posted a runner-up finish in the shot put with a solid mark of 17.03m. Amani Heaven also finished second in the women's shot put with a mark of 15.74m, and Megan Cook finished third in the hammer throw with a toss of 56.46m to round out a solid day for the throwers. In the men's 200m dash, Alex Collier, a Jacksonville native, gave his hometown a solid showing with a time of 21.01 to finish third among collegians and 10th overall. In the final event of the night, the Noles took three out of the top six spots in the men's 5000m run. Luke Reid finished second in the event with a personal best time of 14:19.57 while Matthew Newland (14:28.32) and Anderson Ball (14:36.34) finished fourth and sixth respectively. Day two action will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the men's discus and the women's javelin. Long Jumpers Lead Noles on Day One of Tom Jones Memorial

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida State track and field team had one of their best outings of the season on Friday at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Fla. The Noles tallied several personal bests on the track while having great success in the field events.

"I was really pleased with our group today. That was probably the best we've competed all season, and we need to keep that momentum for tomorrow and the rest of the season," Head Coach Bob Braman said.

The return of Isaac Grimes gave the Noles a jolt in the long jump, as he and teammate Jeremiah Davis each jumped 7.92m for the top spot in the event in a stacked field. Those marks are tied for the eighth-best marks in the nation. Jacore Irving also posted an outdoor personal best in the event with a mark of 7.65m to finish eighth.

The first win of the day came from Dani Thompson in the 5000m run. Thompson picked up her first collegiate victory with a time of 17:47.57. Evie McIver finished right behind her in second with a time of 17:54.59.

In the 400m hurdles, James Rivera had the best outing of his career with a time of 50.21 to finish third among collegian and sixth overall. Rivera's personal best time puts him at No. 7 on the FSU all-time list.

Matthew Newland had a great showing for the Noles in the men's 5000m run, as he shattered his personal best by 18 seconds and finished as the first collegian in the event with a time of 14:19.35.

Jacob Holmes posted a personal best as well in the 1500m run with a time of 3:46.28 to finish fifth.

In the sprints, Alex Collier (20.88) and Sean Watkins Jr. (21.07) each posted personal bests in the 200m dash.

In the field events, Kelechi Nwanaga finished fifth in the javelin with a mark of 51.98m. Milton Ingraham (54.67m) and Amani Heaven (52.17) each took sixth in the discus.

The Noles will be back in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer.

Cunningham Shines; Five Noles Crack FSU Top Ten List in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla - After a great start to the Tom Jones Memorial on Friday, the Noles picked up right where they left off on Saturday. Five Noles cracked the FSU all-time top ten list, including Trey Cunningham who broke Arthur Blake's 35-year old record in the 110m hurdles. Another really good day for our group. What Trey did to run 13.21 in his season opener is almost unheard of. Our sprinters and jumpers had a really good day as well, Head Coach Bob Braman said. Cunningham shined in his first race since the NCAA Indoor Championships on Mar. 12. Cunningham tied his personal best in the 110m hurdles with a school record time of 13.21. Cunningham's time is currently the fastest in the world and also ties him for the 10th-fastest time in NCAA history. He also has the top time in the NCAA this season. DaeQwan Butler put together a great performance in the 400m dash. Butler finished fourth in the event with a time of 45.53. Butler's time is a personal best and also puts himself at No. 9 on FSU's top ten list. After going a season-best 7.92m last night in the long jump, Jeremiah Davis put together another phenomenal performance in the triple jump. Davis had a mark of 16.00m into a headwind of two meters per second to finish as the top collegian and second in the event. Jacore Irving finished sixth with a mark of 15.28m. In the men's 4x100m relay, Alex Collier, Amir Willis, Don'dre Swint and Jo'Vaughn Martin combined to finish third among collegians with a time of 38.88. That time put them No. 8 on FSU's all-time list is the fourth-fastest time in the country this season. On the women's side, Edidiong Odiong was the highlight for the Noles, as she climbed to No. 4 on FSU's top ten list in the 100m dash. Odiong clocked in at a personal best 10.22 to finish fifth. Ruby Stauber was great in the 800m run, as she also clocked in a top ten time for the Noles. Stauber finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:03.54 which ties her for fifth all-time in FSU history. Her time is also the top time in the ACC and the ninth-fastest time in the NCAA this season. The women's 4x100m relay of Ashley Seymour, Savy'on Toombs, Ka'Tia Seymour and Odiong finished fifth with a time of 43.85. The Noles will be back in action next weekend at the Virginia Challenge. The Noles will be sending primarily distance runners to the event.
