The Marathas have extended their agitation for reservations across the state. They have demanded they be included as Kunbis, a community classified as an OBC. Worried that such an inclusion would crowd the quota, OBC communities too have begun protests. Those leading the stir have clarified they were not opposed to granting reservation to the Marathas but did not want them to be included in the OBC list.
The protests in London came a week after the Indian government imposed a nationwide ban on the airing of the BBC documentary.
Amid chants hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian diaspora protested against the controversial BBC documentary in London. The demonstrations were carried out at the British national broadcaster's headquarters and the Indian community in London even called for a boycott of BBC. ”The documentary is completely one-sided," one of the protesters on the site said.
