The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that a depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a deep depression. The depression is projected to move towards the coasts of Bangladesh and West Bengal, bringing light to moderate rainfall in the coastal districts of Odisha and West Bengal. Squally winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph are also expected in the affected areas. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the Bay of Bengal until the weather conditions improve.

Earlier, The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday said that a well-marked low-pressure area over central parts of the north Bay of Bengal concentrated into a depression and laying centred, is likely to intensify further into a Deep depression.
