The improvement of the Baltimore Ravens offense and particularly their passing attack has been one of the most talked-about topics among fans and media pundits all offseason. Part of the expansion of the offensive profile will include utilizing the running backs more as pass catchers out of the backfield according to Head Coach John Harbaugh.
“One of the main points of emphasis has been to involve our running backs in the passing game more,” Harbaugh said. “J.K, obviously, is going to be a focal point in that, Justice [Hill], and Gus [Edwards] does what he does in the passing game.”

Late for Work 5/28: Could Ravens Turn Into a Pass-First Offense This Season?

Could Ravens Turn Into a Pass-First Offense This Season?
The Ravens often get labeled as a "run-first team," which is understandable considering they set the NFL's single-season rushing record in 2019 and led the league in rushing again last season while finishing last in passing yards.
However, as Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman pointed out last month, the Ravens actually called more passing plays than running plays last season.
"They finished last season with an NFL-high 555 carries and NFL-low 406 pass attempts. In theory, though, the numbers told a different story," The Baltimore Sun's Jonas Shaffer wrote. "According to Sports Info Solutions data, if you were to move the Ravens' 49 scrambles over to their passing column, remove their 13 kneel-downs from their running column and imagine all 32 sacks as pass attempts, the margin narrows considerably.

Eisenberg: Ravens Are Helping Marquise Brown Avoid Mark Clayton's Path

WR [Marquise Brown](https://www.baltimoreravens.com/team/players-roster/marquise-brown/)
The similarities between Marquise Brown and Mark Clayton are impossible to miss.
Both were star wide receivers for the Oklahoma Sooners. Both were drafted in the first round by the Ravens – Clayton at No. 22 overall in 2005 and Brown at No. 25 overall in 2019.
Yup, quite similar.
In his first two seasons in Baltimore, Clayton caught 111 passes for 1,410 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown, in his first two seasons, caught 104 passes for 1,353 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Yup, quite similar.
But now it's an unsettling comparison for the Ravens.
Seemingly poised to take flight after two seasons, Clayton, instead, saw his production decline and never developed into a No. 1-caliber receiver. Although he amassed a respectable 234 receptions in five seasons in Baltimore, he eventually was traded.

Ben Cleveland is focused on learning the Ravens offense first and foremost

Big Country is blocking out the noise.
Mitchell Layton-USA TODAY Sports
It is not often that a team’s third-round pick in a given draft garners more attention and praise than their first. The Baltimore Ravens had a pair of round one selections and used them on players at premium skill positions in former Minnesota wide receiver Rashod Bateman and Penn State edge defender Odafe Oweh.
However, it has been Ben Cleveland who they took late in the third round at No. 94 overall that has been talked about the most since joining the team because of his massive size and Duck Dynasty dietary habits prior to being a pro. He is viewed as a plug-and-play day one starter who many projects as the front runner to win the competition at left guard.

Late for Work 5/6: Ravens Have One of NFL's Most Improved Receiving Corps

Ravens Have One of NFL's Most Improved Receiving Corps
When General Manager Eric DeCosta expressed confidence in the Ravens' wide receivers during the team's pre-draft press conference, some assumed it indicated Baltimore wasn't going to address the position early in the draft.
Of course, it wasn't an either/or situation. It's possible to have faith in the players you have and still look to get better, deeper and create competition.
In drafting Rashod Bateman in the first round, Tylan Wallace in the fourth and signing free agent Sammy Watkins, the Ravens are among the top three most improved receiving corps heading into the season, according to Pro Football Focus'sBen Linsey.

All the picks are in and the 2021 NFL Draft has been in the books since Saturday evening. The Baltimore Ravens have received a lot of high praise for the impressive haul that made up their eight-man class.
The days following the draft are filled with tremendous hope and hype where fans and pundits like to predict and project big rookie seasons for everyone. However, that is often not the case because making the jump from college to the pros can be steep and sometimes arduous one for first year players to make right away.

Eisenberg: Ravens Have Put the Pieces Around Lamar Jackson

QB Lamar Jackson
around Lamar Jackson to make their passing game more productive in 2021.
They used their top pick in last week's draft on wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who adds qualities that were missing in the receiving corps and meshes neatly with Hollywood Brown. The Ravens also added another dynamic college receiver, Tylan Wallace, with their top pick on Day 3.
They reportedly pursued several free agent receivers before landing Sammy Watkins, who figures to be faster and more prominent than any veteran pass-catcher they've added in the past few years.
They brought in a new coach for the receivers, Tee Martin, and a route-running specialist, Keith Williams, hoping new eyes and ideas will energize the position group and enhance production.

The global pandemic rocked the sports world last spring and nearly brought it to a screeching halt. March Madness was canceled, the NBA regular and postseason had to be delayed, and the NFL offseason was derailed.
With the nation and the world are still battling the virus, its effects, and new strains popping up, it is an incredible feat that the NFL was able to play and conclude the entire 2020 regular and postseason from start to finish without having to delay or extend it at any point.
