Polish President signs offshore wind act into law

Poland's President Andrzej Duda (pictured) has signed the country's Offshore Wind Act into law and it will come into force in 14 days time. The act completed the legislative process in the Polish Senate on 13 January. It regulates the method for obtaining public support for developers interested in building offshore wind farms off Poland, with 5.9GW of capacity available in the first phase. Poland adopts Offshore Wind Act paving the way to develop Baltic Sea projects

Paving the way for Poland to develop offshore wind in the Baltic Sea, the country’s Parliament unanimously adopted Poland’s first Offshore Wind Act on January 14. The Act will enter into force on February 1 after it’s been signed by the President of Poland. The Act sets out the rules and regulations that will apply to the development of offshore wind, WindEurope said, adding that it defines the volumes Poland intends to develop.
