(Bloomberg) – South Africa will resume the use of the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine on April 28, according to Health Minister Zweli Mkhize.

Health Officials Push Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Confidence

April 26, 2021
SHOW TRANSCRIPT
Since the vaccine rollout started, we ve been talking about public trust and confidence in the vaccines.
Now after the CDC and the FDA hit pause on the Johnson & Johnson shot, health officials are once again addressing how confident they are in the single-dose shot.
Dr. Anthony Fauci says the decision to pause and then resume the use of the vaccine proves that safety is the top priority and that people shouldn t hesitate to get it.
And I think if you make the argument that we take safety really very seriously, and there was a pause, it was examined. And now we re going ahead with it, said Fauci. So if anybody has any doubts about the safety of those other vaccines, including J&J, we can now say, you know, we take this very seriously. We ve looked at it now. Let s get back and get people vaccinated. ....

Restart of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine: A doctor explains why benefits far outweigh risks

Editor’s Note: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration lifted the pause on the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine on April 23, 2021, but the labels and fact sheets given to patients will carry a warning about the exceedingly low risk of developing blood clots. Also, close monitoring of the J&J vaccine along with the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines that were given emergency use authorization will continue. Dr. William Petri, an infectious-disease physician and immunologist at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, explains this development and why the agencies decided that the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the risks. ....

CDC Investigating Death of Oregon Woman After She Received J&J Vaccine

The woman developed a rare blood clot within two weeks of getting her shot.
For now, there s no definitive link between her death and the vaccine.
