They, however, said they would not engage in a media war with those they described as crisis entrepreneurs and divisionists on matters affecting the security of residents of the country, especially the South-west. In another dimension to the crisis which has pitted governors against one another, the Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom, accused his Bauchi State counterpart, Senator Bala Mohammed, of being part of the Fulani terrorist organisation terrorising Nigeria. ....
Govs, monarchs meet, rule out open grazing in South-West OLUFEMI OLANIYI and WALE Oyewale South-West governors and prominent traditional rulers in the region on Saturday held a meeting at the Government House, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to proffer solutions to the lingering security problems in the region. Participants at the meeting unanimously agreed that open grazing had become archaic and unsustainable and must therefore be stopped. They also called on the Federal Government to improve border security and check the influx of foreign herdsmen, who many have blamed for armed robberies, killings, kidnappings and rape, among other criminal activities in the region. ....
Punch Newspapers Sections Kayode Oyero Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has described as “provoking and insensitive”, the comments made by his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, that Nigerians don’t need Akeredolu’s permission to live in Ondo forests. Akeredolu also warned Mohammed not to set the country on fire with his rhetorics. The PUNCH had earlier reported that in a bid to sanitise Ondo forests of killer herdsmen accused of sundry crimes such as kidnappings, killings, rape, amongst others, Akeredolu ordered all herdsmen to vacate the state forest reserves or register with the state government. The development generated outrage with the Presidency and some governors including Mohammed saying Akeredolu lacked the right to issue a vacation notice to herders in the state. ....
