Elderly Esophageal Cancer Patients Receive Suboptimal Therapy by Angela Mohan on February 10, 2021 at 2:25 PM Patients aged above 70 years with locally advanced esophageal (E) and esophagogastric junction (EGJ) cancer should be provided with optimal therapy that has the potential to cure, which includes initial chemoradiotherapy (NACR) and surgical resection. According to researchers, this recommended therapy is often not offered to elderly patients out of concern that they will not tolerate such an intensive treatment regimen.
