And you wonder why people get frustrated with washington. i mean, that is going to be a long 12 days for us looking to see if they re going to fund the government, if they re going to have a government shutdown. i think all the good money is probably on a government shutdown. we ve seen it before the sides on this probably aren t going to come to any agreement. but i think you re right. it s like you re off for six weeks, you re sort of delaying what you have to do, and then you re it s going to be crunch time when you come back and they probably still won t get it done in time. i have not spoken to a republican on the hill who doesn t believe a shutdown it in our future. and, remember, part of this is, so, we ve seen slow progress like this in previous congresses at times. but what is the difference here? we know that his right flank does not want what we call an omnibus you know, where you wrap all these spending bills together. they want to see these individual spending bills. ....

About indictment. we have republicans talking about a shutdown. here s what s happening, the end of end september, republicans need to pass bills. the right wing is going to resist. you have a couple things going on. one, just getting congress to do 12 things on a given timeline, very difficult to do, but republicans are making their job different. what are they doing? they re loading up these must-pass bills with measures like abortion, other sort of message type bills that they re trying to force to have votes on. so you have that. the republicans don t want to pass it all at once. you can sweep all 12 bills into an omnibus. one of my favorite washington words, if you can t get an omnibus and you can put a few together, can you get a minibus? talk about that. and, of course, what could congress do to avoid a shutdown? we ve got to pause and say why ....
