NEW YORK, NY .- Lisa Phillips, Toby Devan Lewis Director of the New Museum, announced today the appointment of Isolde Brielmaier to the position of Deputy Director of the New Museum. Brielmaier will begin in her new role on September 1, 2021, succeeding Karen Wong, who has served as the institutions Deputy Director for nine years, having joined the Museum as Director of External Affairs in 2006. Brielmaier comes to the New Museum with over two decades of non-profit and private sector experience, specializing in exhibitions, scholarship, strategic planning, partnerships, digital strategy, events, and social impact initiatives. Having received her PhD in art history from Columbia University, she brings to her new post an exceptional range of experience spanning academia, the museum field, and the corporate sector. Maria Antelman is a visual artist whose work explores the relationship between technology and the human condition. Inspired by new and old technologies, Antelman addresses our society’s dependence on technology, and the way humans adapt to meet the needs of the digital landscape. Speaking about her work, Antelman states: “As we become extensions of the technologies we use, our tools change us and change the way we respond to the world. The National Herald 12/11/2020 The National Herald NEW YORK – Onassis USA and the New Museum’s NEW INC announced the launch of the Onassis, NEW INC Extended Reality Studio – also known as ONX Studio – with two dozen artists and producers working in extended reality (XR), for a year-long term to develop significant works for the public realm. ONX Studio distinguishes itself as a hybrid space where work is both created and presented. It functions as an accelerator, a subsidized production studio and workspace, and an exhibition gallery located in the Onassis Gallery of Olympic Tower in Midtown Manhattan. Each year the studio space will transform into an extended reality gallery for a month-long showcase featuring ONX artists. The first showcase is planned for later in 2021.
