Soon after Karan Johar's banner, Dharma Productions dropped their official statement on social media announcing lead actor Kartik Aaryan's exit from 'Dostana 2' on Friday evening, Kangana Ranaut wrote a strongly worded tweet and slammed the production house and Karan alleging nepotism.
Kangana also compared Kartik Aaryan's position with late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

In the latest pieces of news, actor Kartik Aaryan has been dropped from Dharma Production's much-awaited upcoming film 'Dostana 2' which also stars Janhvi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya in the lead roles. The film is being helmed by Collin D'Cunha.
Kartik Aaryan joined forces with Karan Johar in a grand announcement for 'Dostana 2' in 2019.
However, DNA can confirm that Karan Johar's production house has vowed not to work with actor Kartik Aaryan in 'Dostana 2' nor engage with him in any future projects.

In 2019, Karan Johar announced that he is taking the Dostana franchise forward with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and debutant, Lakshya. It was helmed by Collin D Cunha, and went on floors by the end of 2019. The makers shot for the portions in India, however, the shoot was halted in March 2020 owing to the Covid pandemic. The next schedule was to take place in London, however since then, they have been trying to resume the shoot by taking the film on floors, but owing to surge in cases, as also date issues, shooting abroad became a challenge.
