A German man embezzled more than $4m to bankroll a boutique winery, farm and horse ranch on his property in Virginia, according to court documents.
German national Gerhard Bauer admitted to stealing more than $4 million from his employer, thought to be industrial firm Frenzelit, to finance his Virginia wine and horse ranch enterprises 2010 to 2017.
He also spent stolen money on hundreds of wine bottles, federal prosecutors in Virginia say.
