County governments are in need of such people — pretty much everywhere. Our Democracy is made possible by the “thousands of regular citizens who serve as poll workers,” Maria Boileau, Clinton County’s voter registrar, recently reminded us all. “These are the people who do the important work of checking in voters at polling places and setting them up at voting machines.” Further, she said, “We depend on these workers to run fair and secure elections.” We could not agree more. Apr 24, 2021 There are many volunteers, organizations and institutions in our region worthy of praise for the dedicated time and effort people put into making our area caring and vibrant, whether with events or causes. This particular cleanup — on a weekend — is in recognition of Earth Day, which is being celebrated pretty much all this week. We know other communities are conducting clean ups. Way to go! And this particular effort is quite something. More than 50 volunteers have signed up to help Downtown Lock Haven Inc. and the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership celebr...
