Cedar Hill ISD Trustees Approve Names for Three Buildings
Cedar Hill ISD Recognizes Outstanding Accomplishments of Citizens
(CEDAR HILL, TEXAS) The Cedar Hill Independent School District Board of Trustees voted on Monday night to approve names for three newly repurposed buildings.
The Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Center will be the Dr. Peggy M. Wilson STEM Center (1515 West Belt Line Road) honoring 94-year-old longtime Cedar Hill citizen Dr. Peggy Wilson, who was the first female Engineer at the company that is now Exxon Mobil. The Dr. Wilson STEM Center will share the building with Collegiate Academy and High School.
The Belt Line Enrollment Center at 504 East Belt Line will now be The Lacy Enrollment Center to honor the four siblings of the Lacy Family, who were the first African American scholars to attend CHISD, in the early 1970s.

Global expert on macroeconomics and development in African countries is first UMass Amherst faculty member to receive the recognition

AMHERST, Mass. – Distinguished Professor of Economics Léonce Ndikumana, considered by many to be one of the best-known and most widely respected African macroeconomists of his generation, has been named a 2021 Andrew Carnegie Fellow by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Ndikumana is the first University of Massachusetts Amherst faculty member to receive the honor.
Each year, the Andrew Carnegie Fellows Program recognizes a select group of scholars and writers who receive philanthropic support for scholarship in the humanities and social sciences that addresses important and enduring issues confronting society. The fellows’ projects focus on a broad range of complex political, economic, technological, humanistic and sociological subjects. The recognition includes a $200,000 stipend, which Ndikumana will use to support his scholarship in macroeconomic and developmental impact of capital flight from African countries, an issue he has studied for most of his career.

NCC receives IPRA Award, wins SEMA 2020's Emergency, Security Mgt Prize

The contributions of the the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to the fight against insecurity in the country has received global endorsement with the Commission bagging two prestigious international awards at the weekend.
Leading the pack is the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards (GWA) 2020 won by the Commission for its harmonized emergency number, 112 and the construction of Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs) in 36 states of the Federation and the FCT with 19 states already operational and additional 5 ready for activation.
The Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde in a statement said, the presentation of the IPRA Golden Global Awards (GGA) 2020 to the Commission had been scheduled to hold earlier this year in Germany but could not hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has received an International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Award and also won the Security Emergency and Management Award (SEMA).
The awards were in recognition of its contributions to the fight against insecurity in the country. NCC Director of Public Affairs Ikechukwu Adinde, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
Adinde said the IPRA award won by the commission was for its harmonised emergency number, 112 and the construction of Emergency Communications Centres (ECCs) in 36 states of the Federation including the FCT.
He said that 19 states were already operational, while additional five were ready for activation.
