Oxford City Council urges litterbugs to pick up their rubbish
(see photo above). The appeal is also part of the council's mission to cut emissions. In January 2019, the council unanimously declared a climate emergency in Oxford and agreed to create a Citizens’ Assembly to consider new carbon targets. The council is encouraging families to pick up litter as ‘an outdoor activity’ and is even asking people to try ‘plogging’ – jogging and picking up litter at the same time.
