Warren Gill Charters, a retiree at Pacifica Senior Living in Vista, has lived through two pandemics, multiple wars, and the Great Depression and he’s still going strong, having celebrated his 106th birthday last week. Charters, a retired teacher and YMCA director, turned 106 on Dec. 23. GRANTS PASS, Ore. – The Oregon Health Authority’s weekly report published on December 17 shows long-term care facilities in Southern Oregon are being hammered by COVID-19. One of those facilities, Oak Lane Retirement in Grants Pass, reported five coronavirus-related deaths in the past 48 hours alone. Oak Lane Retirement’s administrator, Dorie Reid, said the deaths are hitting her employees and residents hard because it feels like they lost some of their family.
