New Juvenile Crime Prevention Council member aims to develop youth

The Courier-Tribune
As a first-generation college student with no financial support, Jaylin Brower began selling marijuana as an answer to his money problems, a choice that would cost him his education at Western Carolina University after a felony conviction.
Brower, 25, born in Ramseur, would describe himself as an at-risk unaccompanied homeless youth in his teenage years. Under the white painted ceilings of Eastern High School, Brower had multiple opportunities to excel as a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track.
"I was the varsity starter, all-county, and all-conference for two years in our district team," Brower said. "I was then given the opportunity after high school to play football at Western Carolina University."
