Parents still have the right to be parents in California, despite both the radical Left and the transgender lobby’s egregious efforts to legislate otherwise. A piece of legislation that made the rights of parents secondary to adherence to gender ideology was too extreme even for Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA). He vetoed a bill that would have mandated judges to prioritize gender identity and parents’ affirmation of it in custody cases. Vetoes such as this probably wouldn't occur meaning laws like this might actually go into effect if groups such as Moms for Liberty and other parents did not challenge left-wing brainwashing in schools.
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) actually vetoed a radical anti-parent bill regarding transgenderism. Good. The veto says less about Newsom, though, than it does about how common sense and decency are gaining ground against radical trans ideology.
I sincerely hope that if someone is going to challenge a book and request it be banned, they have the respect to at least read it in its entirety first.

Parents in Utah can object to lessons on religious grounds or if they violate strongly-held convictions.
Utah made national headlines last weekend, after the Maria Montessori Academy in North Ogden said it would allow parents to opt their children out of Black History Month curriculum.
Administrators denied requests for interviews. But in a written statement, the school’s director said “a few families” had requested to opt out and, given their rights as parents, he “reluctantly” agreed to let them.
According to Jaime Tracy, whose daughter is in 4th grade and one of the few black students at the school, the new director shared her vision for expanding the school’s curriculum to incorporate stories from Black Americans and other underrepresented groups. It’s something she’s been pushing for a while, she said.
