EDF probes blade failure at Park Spring - reNews - Renewable Energy News

EDF Renewables and GE Renewable Energy are investigating after a blade failure at its Park Spring wind farm in South Yorkshire, England. Images online show one of the three turbines supplied by the US manufacturer at the project near Barnsley with a badly damaged blade. The incident occurred on Friday, 12 March. A spokeswoman for the French developer said it is aware of the “blade failure”. "We’ve cordoned the area off with fencing and some nearby public footpaths have been closed to ensure people’s safety," she added. Turbine failure sees wind farm shut down

× A WIND farm has been switched off after a turbine malfunctioned and sent debris falling into the field below. Investigations are underway as to the cause of the failure, at Park Spring wind farm, Grimethorpe at around 3pm today (March 12). A blade from one of the site's trio of four-year-old turbines became detached and fell almost 100m to the ground. Debris is scattered around the field and residents were urged to avoid the area while EDF engineers attended the site. Footpaths were cordoned off for residents' safety.
