The official count, canvassed at Humble City Hall on Saturday morning, December 19 with the Humble City Council in attendance, was Paula Settle 301 votes (50.08 percent) and Arliss Bentley, 300 votes (49.92 percent). The Harris County Election Administrator’s Office counted any additional military overseas, provisional and mail ballots that were received by 7 pm on election night, then delivered the certified results on Friday evening to Humble City Secretary Jenny Page. ....

The election is expected to be canvassed Dec. 21 or 22 when the results are declared official, according to Humble City Secretary Jenny Page, and, as of election night, Dec.12, a recount was still to be determined. A canvass is the official tally of votes for the Dec.12 election, accounting for every ballot cast and ensuring that every valid vote cast is included in the election totals. ....
