Paula Settle has prevailed in the Humble City Council election.
A recount of the 601 votes cast in the Humble City Council runoff election has verified that the original vote from the December 13 runoff did not change. Paula Settle received 301 votes while her opponent, Arliss Bentley received 300 votes.
Since the election was not overturned, there is no need to canvass the results again, according to Humble City Secretary Jenny Page.
The Position 4 election has been quite a journey for Settle and Bentley and demonstrates that every vote really does count. In the final count, just one vote separates the two candidates. Fewer than eight percent of the City of Humble’s registered voters cast ballots in the December 12 runoff election, according to statistics provided by Page. ....

One vote now separates the two candidates competing for Place 4 in the Humble City Council runoff election which was held on December 13. 
Paula Settle prevailed in the election by one vote over challenger Arliss Bentley, with all 63 voting centers reporting. The official count, canvassed at Humble City Hall on Saturday morning, December 19 with the Humble City Council in attendance, was Paula Settle 301 votes (50.08 percent) and Arliss Bentley, 300 votes (49.92 percent).
The Harris County Election Administrator’s Office counted any additional military overseas, provisional and mail ballots that were received by 7 pm on election night, then delivered the certified results on Friday evening to Humble City Secretary Jenny Page. ....

Paula Settle – 291 votes and Arliss Bentley – 289 votes 
Two votes separate the two candidates competing for Place 4 in the Humble City Council election Dec. 13.  
With all 63 voting centers reporting, Paula Settle has won the election by two votes over challenger Arliss Bentley. The unofficial count is Settle 291 votes (50.17 percent) and Bentley, 289 votes (49.83 percent), according the to the Harris County Elections Administrator website, HarrisVotes.org.   
The election is expected to be canvassed Dec. 21 or 22 when the results are declared official, according to Humble City Secretary Jenny Page, and, as of election night, Dec.12, a recount was still to be determined. A canvass is the official tally of votes for the Dec.12 election, accounting for every ballot cast and ensuring that every valid vote cast is included in the election totals.  ....
