La Paz, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian Ambassador at the United Nations Diego Pary on Thursday called to respect the people's vote in the runoff in Peru, where candidates Pedro Castillo and Keiko Fujimori ran for the presidency.

The Opus Dei candidate López Aliaga will not support a Communist for president.
Rafael López Aliaga of Popular Renovation (Renovación Popular – a right-wing party founded in 2020), who finished third in Sunday's first round of Peru´s presidential election with 11.69% of valid votes, behind Pedro Castillo (19.12%) and Keiko Fujimori (13.37% ) has requested Thursday the revision of all the voting records but warned he will not support “Communist” Castillo at the June 6 runoff.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Violeta Bermúdez, downplayed the allegations of foul play by the far-right López Aliaga, claiming it was a clean, fair and transparent process. “All reports indicate that they have been clean, fair and transparent elections,” said the Prime Minister. “I believe unnecessary noise should not be generated about an electoral process carried out despite the great problems our country is facing,” she added, although she admitted there differences from previous polls because of the coronavirus pandemic and the security protocols.

Chavist candidate Pedro Castillo of the Peru Libre party and perennial conservative contender Keiko Fujimori looked poised to advance to the runoff after Peru's National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) had counted 93.479% of the votes.

The head of the electoral body addressed the four lines of action that will be in force during the elections, as well as the implementation of biosafety protocols to avoid COVID-19 contagion.
In this sense, the official explained that the strategy consisting of many polling stations hosting few polling booths will lead to avoiding crowds.
Therefore, expanding by 125% the implementation of polling stations "is very important in times of pandemic."
"The general elections will run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We are promoting staggered voting so that citizens come to vote avoiding queues," he indicated.
