How Old Should 'Elders' Be? The Hebrew Roots of Church Leadership

Executive Editor, desiringGod.org Who are “the elders”? The term sounds strange in modern ears. For those not raised in the church, or not raised in churches with “elders,” it can be a perplexing term. Who are these “elders” I hear about? Do they meet in secret? To the unfamiliar, “elders” may sound sectarian or even cultish. Modern people intuit that the term “elders” belongs to a bygone era, to more traditional times. More broadly, the term can have negative connotations in a society that increasingly prizes the strength and beauty of yout...

GP14 Midland Bell open meeting at Midland Sailing Club

GP14 Midland Bell open meeting at Midland Sailing Club by Charles Saunders 13 May 21:38 BST 9 May 2021 At last! The first Midland Bell open meeting for 18 months got under way at Midland SC in Edgbaston, Birmingham on Sunday 9th May. The host club made us all very welcome and a total of eleven boats sailed, five from the home club and six visitors (five Trimpley, one Staunton Harold). A Ford technician near me stares into the depths of the Everest's bonnet, his eyes switching from side to side with cool concentration, and he's listening intently, but to what and to whom? He appears alone, yet his hands are being instructed by another voice and another set of eyes. The sequence of repairs happening before us at Ford's Training Centre in Silverton are all extremely normal on the surface yet strange and unfamiliar at the same time. The clue behind this reframed reality is the thin black band around his head, and a small sensor positioned a few inches away from his one eye - A...

Review: We Shine - Fee | Cross Rhythms - Vimarsana News

Review: We Shine - Fee | Cross Rhythms

Reviewed by Peter John Willoughby This CD started life as 'Burn For You' before being retitled. Steve Fee has previously recorded 'Sacred Space' and is a worship leader at North Point Community Church in Atlanta and has risen to US prominence through the seminal Passion events. His band, showcased here, are an exceptional, powerful rock worship unit. The opening guitar on "All Because Of Jesus" and "Burn For You" sent shivers down my spine as it reminded me of the shimmering guitar that I first heard on 'The Joshua Tree' by U2. Also the track "We Shine" could easily have been done by Deliriou...
