Eileen Elliot – a towering figure in the world of yachting – dies aged 95
WELL known on the Island, national and international yachting scene, Eileen Elliot has died at the age of 95. Mrs Elliot's association with the Island goes back to the 1930s when her parents built The Wight House in Yarmouth. After leaving Upper Chine School in Shanklin, she joined the Women’s Royal Naval Service with her best friend, Bunty Minchin, and served at HMS Flowerdown intercepting German navy signals for decoding at Bletchley.
