Banned Keswick driver caught on A66 at Troutbeck

Prosecution: Police found the defendant in a car in a layby on the A66. A FORTY-year-old Keswick man has been sentenced to a community order after had admitted driving while disqualified. Gary Peter Thwaites, of The Headlands, committed the offence on May 5 last year as he drove a Volkswagen Touran on the A66 at Troutbeck. He also admitted not being insured. Magistrates ordered Thwaites to complete 100 hours of unpaid work in the next year; and that he pay the £85 costs of the case and a £95 victim surcharge.
