Former Wildwood, New Jersey Mayor Peter J. Byron is facing numerous new charges related to tax evasion and soliciting a job, after officials announced Monday that a state grand jury has returned a new indictment against him.
His Dishonor; World of hurt; Structural defects; and other highlights of recent tax cases.
He is now facing up to three years in prison and a fine.
Federal authorities say the mayor of Wildwood has admitted that he aided and assisted in the preparation and presentation of false and fraudulent tax returns.

Byron and two other Wildwood officials also face charges in Cape May County Court for submitting false records in order to qualify for state health benefits. All three have pleaded not guilty.
