In a special drive, the government will rovide the second dose of Covishield vaccine against COVID on Wednesday to those who have already received the first dose.
In a release, District Collector A.Md. Imtiaz said the drive would be conducted at 140 session sites, mostly Primary Health Centres, across the district.
He said only people aged above 45 who got the first dose at least 40 days ago could get the second dose on Wednesday.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Monday directed the municipal and health department staff to work in coordination and constitute joint teams comprising civic and para medical personnel to reach out to every household in the twin cities and identify persons with fever and other symptoms and hand over medical kits to them.
As per the directions of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Mr. Somesh Kumar held a meeting with senior IAS officers, GHMC Zonal Commissioners and hospital superintendents of GHMC area at BRKR Bhavan on Monday.
The Chief Secretary instructed the authorities to start COVID out-patient clinics at all PHCs, basti dawakhanas and other health facilities. He asked officials to increase COVID beds in NIMS, Sarojini Devi, Chest, Gandhi, Fever, TIMS, King Koti and other hospitals in areas like Malakpet, Golconda, Vanasthalipuram, Kondapur etc. He wanted cleanliness drive to be taken up in all the government hospitals, urban primary health centres and basti dawakhanas to maintain hygienic conditions.

The Indian Express caught my eye last week. It reported that in Gurugram, Haryana (where I live), the local district authorities are worried by an uptick in the number of covid cases and are planning to intensify and ramp up the government’s ongoing vaccination drive. The aim, according to the report, is to increase the number of hospitals administering covid vaccines.
However, a closer look at this ‘ramping up’ shows just how skewed the approach is: five hospitals have been selected to run 24-hour vaccination clinics, only one of which is a public facility. The other four are exclusive and expensive private hospitals. I would imagine that the poor, even if they wish to pay the ₹250 fee for a shot, will not easily be granted entry to these spaces.
