The Photonics industry has proved to be one of Europe’s most resilient and fast-growing industries in recent years growing at more than double the rate of global GDP outperforming other market sectors segments according to the new ‘Market Research Study – Photonics 2020’ by deep technology research group Tematys. Covering the period from 2015-2019, the industry grew at a CAGR of 7% per year and was worth €103 billion.
Job uptake significant
An additional 30,000 jobs, taking the total employee level to over 390,000 employees during this time, represented an annual growth rate of 2.1% - twice as fast as European Manufacturing for the EU28 (around a 1% CAGR), the analyst said. ....

IPG Photonics Guides Q2 In Line; Promotes COO Eugene Scherbakov To CEO
WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - While reporting financial results for the first quarter on Tuesday, IPG Photonics Corp. (IPGP) provided earnings and revenue guidance for the second quarter. The company also announced CEO transition.
For the second quarter, the company expects earnings in a range of $1.20 to $1.50 per share on revenues between $360 million and $390 million.
On average, 11 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect the company to report earnings of $1.36 per share on revenues of $364.21 million for the quarter. Analysts estimates typically exclude special items.
Separately, the company announced that Eugene Scherbakov, currently Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Valentin Gapontsev as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - IPG Photonics Corporation (IPGP) released earnings for its first quarter that increased from last year.
The company s earnings came in at $91.7 million, or $0.23 per share. This compares with $4.7 million, or $0.01 per share, in last year s first quarter.
Excluding items, IPG Photonics Corporation reported adjusted earnings of $177.4 million or $0.45 per share for the period.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.15 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts estimates typically exclude special items.
