Councilors approved a resolution Tuesday evening directing Town Manager Alex Brown to apply for funding for the final phase of the town’s ongoing Ridge Road reconstruction project. The current $2.7 million phase will see Silver City’s busy southern artery rebuilt from N.M. 90 to Bob White Drive over the next several months, including bike lanes, curbs and gutters and a sidewalk on the east side of the road. As designed, the town’s project will eventually extend to Silver City limits near Lance Drive, from which point Grant County has future plans to extend similar improvements all the way to the Grant County Detention Center.

Silver City town councilors adopted two ordinances Tuesday night that further streamlined the town zoning in two neighborhoods, and, for a third time, approved a notice of intent to adopt a labor management relations ordinance that will bring Silver City’s local labor relations board into compliance with state law.
One of the zone changes was at the request of the owner of a Brewer Hill property that now houses a homeless shelter.
The council met virtually Tuesday night via the GoToMeeting app due to the coronavirus pandemic.
