Jan 24, 2021 HOWLAND Howland High School has recognized its students and teachers for their achievements, character and service to others. Now, the school is expanding those efforts to showcase positive community partnerships. “We feel this is not only a great opportunity to recognize local businesses, but also provide a platform to establish positive dialogue and educate our business community about our students and school environment,” high school Principal Joseph Simko said. Over the last several years, Howland High School has worked to establish a positive culture and environment that focuses on the district’s theme of “All One,” in which students, staff, families and community members support each other in their strive for excellence. ....

MALTA If you enjoyed last year’s Malta Food Fest and loved tasting different cuisine from around the area, this year should be no different except it’s curbside pickup. The second-annual Malta Food Fest takes place with a take-out twist on Wednesday at Hudson Valley Community College’s TEC-SMART campus in Malta, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The event, hosted by the Saratoga County Chamber, will still give attendees a chance to sample food from Ballston Spa, Malta and beyond, but the food will be packaged in grab-and-go containers. It’ll also feature a “boxed-to-go” dinner available to reheat at home, courtesy of Pizza Works, Bowled, The Hideaway, Esperanto, Nani’s Indian Kitchen, and Augie’s. Tickets for the event are $20 and available on the chamber’s website. ....

As in previous years, proceeds from will benefit the Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund, but, in a change for 2021, participating restaurants will receive a portion of ticket sales to help offset costs.
