Emergency services rush to crash in residential estate

EMERGENCY services rushed to the scene of a crash on wet roads in a residential estate in the Lockyer Valley on Wednesday evening.
Police, paramedics and firefighters responded to the single-vehicle accident on Barcoo Drive in the Plainland Crossing estate.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said a vehicle lost control at 5.10pm and crashed into a cement median strip.
The crash caused cars to pile up on the road with the only entrance into the estate blocked.
“It doesn’t look like there’s any injuries at this stage,” he said.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the single occupant of the car was in the hands of paramedics. ....

The Lockyer’s newest and most sought after realtor has taken the plunge, moving from a home-based office to a new shop at Plainland’s plaza.
Tammy Nieling, who has operated 83 Property from her Lockyer Valley home since 2019, said the expansion at Plainland provided the opportunity for her to expand her business.
Ms Nieling has taken on the former Killing Time with Coffee and Sophia College shopfront in the Woolworths complex.
“With the growth of the community and the exciting infrastructure, it was good timing to get an office,” she said.
Ms Nieling, who for the past two years has been the sole agent, has taken on a second realtor and a junior administrator for her new office. ....

Popular fast food chain responds to Plainland rumour

Despite rumours that the Mexican fastfood chain would be opening a drive through store at Plainland in the Mobil complex, the business has denied a new store.
In an email from Guzman Y Gomez, a customer service team member new stories would be announced on its social media pages.

“We do not currently have any information regarding a store in Plainland in our Pipeline,” they said.

Council will be asking the Queensland Government why Lockyer Valley land owners were again left out of new land valuations when 25 local government areas will receive new valuations in March.
The announcement this month from the state resources department followed consultation with councils as well as local and industry stakeholder groups across Queensland, yet the Lockyer Valley council was not included in the Queensland Valuer-General s list for the New Year.
In 2019, the Lockyer Valley Regional Council was forced to completely overhaul its rates model to ensure changes to rates were fair, after some land owners were slugged with valuation increases as large as 400 per cent. ....
