A public health alert has been issued for approximately 211,406 pounds of raw ground turkey products potentially linked to salmonella hadar illness.
The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued the alert Saturday night for the products that were produced by Plainville Brands, LLC, which is based in New Oxford, Pennsylvania. 
The affected products were shipped to stores nationwide and have January "use by/freeze/sell by" dates. The health alert said there were concerns that "some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers."

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Federal health officials triggered a public health alert for more than 200,000 pounds of raw ground turkey products due to concerns the meat could have caused Salmonella Hadar illnesses in people across 12 states, including New York.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said they were investigating the multi-state outbreak, which involved 28 people who were sickened.

The United States Department of Agriculture issued a public health alert instead of a recall, because it is beieved the products are no longer available for purchase.

However, the USDA said it was concerned the ground turkey could be frozen in consumers' freezers. The USDA said the ground turkey should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
