Edinboro University has sold its former Porreco College property to the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. The 28-acre property on West 38th Street in Millcreek previously was Edinboro s Porreco College. The university sold the property for $3.2 million. The university announced the sale Wednesday afternoon. LECOM will use the campus for instruction and student gatherings, Silvia Ferretti, provost, senior vice president and dean of academic affairs for LECOM, said in a statement. “LECOM will use the classrooms for small group study for the medical school’s Problem Based Learning and Directed Study programs,” Ferretti said. “The spacious outdoor spaces will be used for wellness and recreational programs by the students. ....
As one oft-discussed location for the Erie County Community College falls out of consideration, a group of local supporters on Monday rallied for the new school to be located in downtown Erie. The Erie County Community College Board of Trustees recently declined to bid on Edinboro University of Pennsylvania s Porreco College campus in Millcreek Township after asking EUP officials to extend the deadline for offers on the property. A spokeswoman for Edinboro University told the Erie Times-News that a purchase agreement has been signed for the Porreco property, but that the buyer won t be disclosed until the end of June. ....
