In july 2011 cbp informed the airport that the current port office did not meet its needs and that the general aviation facility would be necessary for cbp to remain at the airport. The airport subsequently worked with cbp to construct a general aviation facility and spent over 3 million to meet cbp specifications. Unfortunately in july of last year cbp reversed course and informed the airport it would no longer occupy the facility.
