Mahrez: 'We deserved the win!'

Riyad Mahrez believes City thoroughly deserved all three points at St James' Park, as the Algerian pitched in with his 50th goal for the club during the 4-0 Premier League victory.

Mahrez: I meant to go around the wall!

The Algerian’s curling effort found a gap in the hosts’ wall with 20 to play to deservedly put City ahead in the French capital, building on Kevin De Bruyne’s 64th minute equaliser.
And while the winger felt we were full value for the victory, in which he put in a typically sparkling display, he admitted that there was a hint of fortune in his winning strike.
Mahrez also joked that he received a helping hand from one of his City teammates, who predicted before kick-off that the Algerian would get his name on the scoresheet.
“Yes it’s because of Ben (Benjamin Mendy), he asked God, and God gave me this goal,” he said in jest after the match.

Taylor: Ruthless City getting better in attack

“I thought there were some really good team goals and good decision making, which is key in the final third.”
The win sees City joins Chelsea in the last eight of the tournament, which includes European powerhouses Lyon as well as Barcelona and Bayern Munich who progressed with equally impressive aggregate victories.
Taylor says his side not content with reaching quarter-finals, but does not feel that our free scoring performance in Florence gives us an advantage over the competition.
“I don’t think it means anything,” he added.
“We are in the quarter-finals, so are other very good teams. We are a good footballing team that can score goals. We have earned the right to be there, but it doesn’t guarantee anything.

Ruben Dias has expressed his happiness at scoring his first goal for City, helping the team to a 2-1 Premier League victory over West Ham United.
The centre-back powerfully headed in a superb Kevin De Bruyne cross to give City the lead after 30 minutes.
Michail Antonio equalised for the visitors but fellow defender John Stones got the winner in the second half, meaning the duo have now scored more goals than they have conceded when starting together for City.
Dias was pleased to get his name on the scoresheet but also voiced his appreciation for the players around him.

Phil Foden has praised Manchester City's courage as Pep Guardiola's men claimed our first victory at Anfield since 2003 with a sensational 4-1 Premier League win.
Ilkay Gundogan netted a brace either side of Mohamed Salah's equaliser just after the hour mark, before a goal each from Raheem Sterling and Foden sealed a fantastic three points for City in Merseyside.
The visitors hadn't won at Anfield since 2003 and Foden feels that City showed their fearlessness, tenacity and determination throughout the encounter.
"We showed our courage from minute one," he said. "They played a brilliant game and made it difficult for us.
