John Retherford no longer lives in the Hudson Valley.
But, the now-northern New Jersey man said there are still reasons for him to visit the region often. One of those is SplashDown Beach Water Park.
“My 9-year-old son and 24-year-old autistic stepdaughter love going there and missed it last summer,” he said.
Water parks across the state, including the Fishkill site ranked sixth on TripAdvisor s list of the best water parks in the country, were not permitted to open last summer amid COVID-19 restrictions.
That not only left a summertime void for many residents in and beyond the Hudson Valley who visit SplashDown, it rendered hundreds of summertime jobs unneeded, and further damaged a local tourism industry already struggling to navigate the pandemic. ....
