A state budget that works for St. Cloud

A state budget that works for St. Cloud
Rep. Dan Wolgamott
The 2021-2022 Minnesota state budget is the most important in a generation as we work to help Minnesotans recover from the historic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
I’m working with the Walz Administration and my legislative colleagues to pass a budget that fills the needs of St. Cloud. Last week, I held a Budget Listening Session with Revenue Commissioner Robert Doty to get direct feedback from my constituents on their priorities to help shape my decisions regarding investments in our state budget.
Rooted in what I am hearing from the people I represent, I’m proud to support the Minnesota House budget proposals that include significant ongoing investments in education, prioritize economic assistance to those most impacted by COVID-19, and create a safer and more secure state for all Minnesotans. There are several different bills that make up our complete budget proposal, with legislation focused on early childhood, E-12 and higher education, taxes, labor and industry, workforce and business development and public safety.

ST. PAUL — When state lawmakers introduced new proposed legislation Wednesday morning that would improve safety in meat and poultry processing plants, local JBS union members were among the first to add their support.
"Meatpacking is one of the most dangerous industries," said United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 663 president Matt Utecht at the Wednesday press conference. "The state of Minnesota must do a better job for workers, and this legislation is a start to that."
