New business prompts reopening of rail crossings May 11 2021 Crossings at Lamonta and North Main to be taken out of exempt status by June 1. The crossings have been exempt since 2006. New businesses planning to set up shop in the former Woodgrain Millwork site has prompted city officials to reopen some old rail crossings. The Prineville Campus, which is leasing industrial business space on the vacated wood products site, will soon be home to some new businesses that need rail access. So, the City of Prineville Railway will be reopening and upgrading a 3,800-foot section of track that stretches from Lamonta Road to the campus on the corner of North Main Street and Peters Road. ....

The site has been acquired by Parris Group, an industrial development group that focuses on rehabilitating properties. According to Charles Bauman, Chief Operating Officer, the new ownership believes in grass-roots developments and has named the new venture Prineville Campus, LLC. The developer specifically bought the property to leverage the previous mill s extensive infrastructure for a large industrial redevelopment campus to benefit the community in bringing back local manufacturing, stimulating economic revitalization and supporting the Prineville local employment market and Crook County rural region. ....
