Had to take a month off of work, went back to work and the first day back at work my wife calls me, we just got a phone message from a tailor asking we return the phone call. So i called the louisiana number that was left and a little young voice answered the phone. I asked, is this tailor . A little young voice said, is this robert neighbor . The only person who calls me robert is my mom and this was not my mom. She went on to say she was thinking of committing suicide and she went on you tube and found some videos that some of jills friend had made about jill. And she thought, if somebody loves jill that much, maybe somebody loves me. Im always touched by that. Some day bullying will be something of the past. I also wanted to say we need to work and i see representatives here of cities and counties because those same children are on sports teams under the city rec department, they are receiving services and they are in programs with the county and so having this training, having this ....

I like that, thats great. Something that really resonated with me that tom said, if you simply tolerate diversity you are aspiring to mediocrity. Can you talk about the ambassadors, adults taking an active role to intervene when we witness bullying. All of us are humbled by the virus, how systemic its become. How do you get your hands around that . For me its top down and bottom up. We are Authority Figures and what we do for our children and thats care, but we need to empower them to become the leaders they are waiting to become. This notion of Youth Adult Partnership is esoteric in its term but on the ground how do you operationalize it, those things in the Public School who are working so hard to meet the required mandates. Schools are driven by mandates, academic achievement, achievement, enrollment. But t ....

24 7 has people looking at how do we respect each other as human beings and understand our differences and embrace those and be a community of care. I think a very practical thing, too, is that there somehow be established an adult that kids will trust or young people will trust. When we started out with lgbt sensitivity that was one of the things because a push back from the school district, well, thats going to cost money. But we found teachers, we started with elementary and went up to middle who would volunteer for that, straight or gay. Then we put the word out, if you are having these kind of problems, we saw some very graphic instances that even the sensitized adults didnt understand, they didnt realize it. A lot of it in those days, im a teacher and i love my profession, a lot of it was in the faculty rooms, too. You learn from kids. Its all laid out there for you and thats another thing if you have the sensitized adult then you dont spend any money, that adult is there are the ....

Antiimmigrant messages coming out in the media. In new york, you probably remember this, some of you, in 2008 High School Students were going out on a weekly basis beating up immigrants that they thought were supposedly undocumented immigrants. The students all knew about this but the adults didnt. It results in a hate crime, a murder. A couple things i wanted to bring up. What does it take to unseat bias . First of all, we have to look at all the places that people are getting that violence, those attitudes, and have dialogue about it. Just like amina said, we need to be getting to know each other. Some researchers back in the 40s came up with 4 important things to address prejudice. The first is getting it know each other, talking about it, getting it out in the open. The second is equal status, were not just feeling sorry for those poor little whatevers that are difrplt than us, but we are all equal. The third one is work ....

Organization who does this kind of work may be a little bit different, again, because of some of the impacts it has on the communities that we work with. We were involved in the process with the developer [speaker not understood] inclusionary requirement through the land dedication. And, so, we continue to support that option allowing lower income residents to be able to stay in the neighborhood. And also we look forward to continuing to work with the Mayors Office of housing to clarify guidelines and procedures to make land dedication viable for future developments, to counter gentrification and also ensure that our community receives its fair share of Affordable Housing thats equivalent to other inclusionary requirements. I also just wanted to say briefly, we do operate two Affordable Housing sites in the neighb ....
