A temporary shared path and altered traffic on Mount Maunganui s Marine Parade is out, while an analysis to extend the Marine Parade boardwalk is in.
At Tauranga City Council meeting yesterday, commissioners said the Innovating Streets at The Mount project did not have enough community support to go ahead.
The council decided not to undertake a trial involving a temporary shared path and altered traffic arrangements for the section of Marine Parade between Pacific Avenue and the Tay St intersection. ....

T-Mobile US Inc. unveiled a proposed public offering of senior notes.
The company said its T-Mobile USA Inc. subsidiary plans to offer up to $3 billion aggregate principal amount of senior notes, to be issued in three tranches with maturities in 2026, 2029 and 2031.
T-Mobile USA plans to use $2 billion of the net proceeds to acquire spectrum licenses under the Federal Communications Commission s Auction 107, with any remainder to be used to redeem its 6.50% Senior Notes due 2026 and then for refinancing existing indebtedness.

Tauranga rates rise drafted: 39pc for commercial, 12pc plus rubbish for homeowners

Commercial ratepayers in Tauranga are in line for a proposed 39 per cent rates increase in the coming financial year.
It would equate to about an extra $36 per week, Tauranga City Council said in a statement following a public meeting yesterday.
The significant rise is due to the council changing the commercial differential - the proportion of rates commercial ratepayers pay compared to residential ratepayers - from 1:2 to 1:6.
Homeowners are in line for a 12 per cent increase - about $5.46 extra per week - and another $3.70 per week on top of that for the new council-run kerbside rubbish and recycling service. ....
