Temples, Gurdwaras protected in Pakistan: minority leaders

LAHORE:Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) provides protection to temples and Gurdwaras across the country without any discrimination, said Bishan Singh, former Pardhan, in a press conference at Lahore Press Club here on Thursday.

was an arson attack.

The cause of a fire that ripped through an Ahipara home leaving little more than a rear wall standing was arson, Fire and Emergency New Zealand says. Fire investigator Craig Bain confirmed the fire, which started inside the Kaka St house on the lower level, was deliberately lit on Thursday. Bain said their inquiries were ongoing. The alarm was raised at 3.28am and fire brigades from Ahipara, Kaitaia, and Whangarei controlled the blaze as well as protected two neighbouring properties that were threatened at the height of the blaze. No one was home at the time of the fire. It was the seventh serious house fire in the Far North in the past two months. ....

Crudia zeylanica: Powers vested in Devani Jayathilaka discussed

There are various opinions regarding the intervention of Gampaha District Forest Officer Devani Jayathilaka to protect the plant which has been identified as the oldest surviving Crudia zeylanica plant in the world.
Some accused her of trying to emerge in an unwarranted manner without realizing her powers. Minister C.B. Mr. Ratnayake had also stated in Parliament.
Did Devani Jayathilaka go beyond the limits of her powers?
