In this research collaboration, ARTIDIS and teams from the University of Barcelona and Hospital Clínic de Barcelona will perform comparative analyses of nanomechanical profiles of cancer tissue and sub-cellular components, i.e. tumor microenvironments (TME), in human lung biopsies of patients with NSCLC undergoing surgery at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona. The teams will use the proprietary ARTIDIS technology that provides nanomechanical profiling, based on atomic force microscopy of patient-derived tissues directly at the patient s bedside, and combines it with extensive clinical information to deliver fast diagnosis and optimized treatment plans. This 18-month study aims at identifying distinct nanomechanical signatures of major histological ....

Charging thousands of electric vehicles simultaneously will be a challenge for cities, writes Concordia researcher

Market demand for electric vehicles (EVs) has been steadily rising in recent years and will likely continue to do so in rich and developing countries alike. However, as the consulting firm Deloitte projects in a recent report, that demand will slow considerably after 2030 if charging station infrastructure challenges are not addressed in a sustained manner.
In a new paper published in World Electric Vehicle Journal, Claude El-Bayeh, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, looks at current and future EV charging and discharging strategies. Considering variables including economics, the effects on power grids and complexity, El-Bayeh and his colleagues compare existing and planned strategies and rate them accordingly. Java Microbenchmark Harness (JMH)

Java Microbenchmark Harness (JMH)
A quick hands-on lesson to learn about Java Microbenchmark Harness (JMH). The article helps you get started and configure JMH project.
by
Introduction
jvm. It is not enough to surround the code in a loop with
System.out.println() and gather the time measurements. While benchmarking, a developer should consider warm-up cycles, JIT compilations, JVM optimizations, avoiding usual pitfalls, and even more.
Thankfully, OpenJDK has a great tool Java Microbenchmark Harness (JMH) that can help us generated benchmarking stats. In this article, we will discuss how JMH can help us avoid the pitfalls that we have discussed earlier. ....
