Gallipolis’ search for new city manager

GALLIPOLIS — The Gallipolis City Commissioners met on Tuesday evening to discuss the city manager position and pass ordinances.
Present during the meeting were commissioners Cody Caldwell, Mike Fulks, Mike Brown and Tony Gallagher.
During the meeting, Gallagher made a motion to appoint Bill Jenkins as interim city manager until an official manager is hired or until the November election, when Jenkins will be on the ballot for a city commission office. Gallagher’s motion died due to not receiving a second.

Land trust adds important piece to Goldstream conservation puzzle

The recent acquisition of a 40 acre land parcel that stretches across Ballaine Road, just north of Goldstream Creek, is an excitingÂ piece of conservation work for the Interior Alaska Lands Trust, also known as IALT.
The trust has been in existence since 1995, and has made significant contributions toward its mission of conserving land north of the Alaska Range for the benefit of the community. The trust has been adding land, parcel by parcel, in the Goldstream Valley in order to help bring about the vision of a Goldstream Valley Greenbelt in conjunction with almost 2,000 acres of the Goldstream Valley that are already protected by the Goldstream Public Use Area.
