Walton judge sentences man for drugs, cash found at Miramar cabin

A man who was arrested in 2019 on multiple counts of drug possession and trafficking has been sentenced, according to a release from the Walton County Sheriff s Office.
Purnell Untonio Jones was sentenced by the Circuit Judge Kelvin Wells to 15 years in prison for trafficking in heroin, possession of oxycodone, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and giving a false name.
Jones was arrested as part of a joint investigation between the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and WCSO.
As part of this investigation, surveillance was conducted on suspected drug traffickers in Okaloosa and Walton Counties. That work resulted in Jones being identified as someone involved in the distribution of narcotics. He was detained by Walton County deputies and investigators outside a rented cabin in Miramar Beach on Oct. 9, 2019, the release said.
